This past summer, 11 WSU student interns worked closely with the WSU SR 530 Mudslide Recovery Team to help the communities of Arlington and Darrington continue the work of recovery after the mudslide. They collaborated with community partners including the City of Arlington, the Town of Darrington, Snohomish County, and WSU Snohomish Extension.
The students’ educational backgrounds and interests were matched with community needs including communication, community outreach, economic development, natural resource management, public safety, tourism, urban and community planning, and youth development. In addition to the ten interns placed in the region, two additional interns are working on recovery efforts from the Pullman campus.
